Time Out CRITICS’ PICK “An intervention with love, insults and whiskey. A RAWLY FUNNY new comedy!” – The New York Times“HYSTERICAL"– New York Magazine"A WILD theatrical experience! EASILY ONE OF THE FUNNIEST PLAYS OF THE YEAR. One of the MOST SEARING appraisals of contemporary culture."– TheaterMania“ROBERT O’HARA’s CRUELLY FUNNY new play shrewdly turns the formula for the American domestic comedy on its head. A TERRIFIC ENSEMBLE!” – Variety“This razor-sharp Public Theater production is a hoot, and you need a ticket, STAT!”– New York Post
The O’Mallerys have gathered in their local park to share some barbecue and straight talk with their sister Barbara, whose spiral of drugs and recklessness has forced her siblings to stage an open-air intervention. But the event becomes raucous and unpredictable as familial stereotypes collide with hard realities, and racial politics slam up against the stories we tell—and maybe even believe—about who we were and who we've become. KENT GASH (Miss Evers' Boys) directs this wildly inventive new play that proves family can be a bigger vice than any other addiction.
