Nell Carter and Andrea Marcovicci made their Public Theater debuts in this production.

Billed as Iphigenia featuring a rock chorus of women, the show was based on Euripides’s Iphigenia in Aulis, in which Agamemnon lures his daughter Iphigenia to Aulis to be sacrificed by pretending that she will marry Achilles. The cast included a dozen women playing the title character, with music performed by the group Goatleg. The Public later took this production to London’s Young Vic, where Patti LuPone joined the cast.
