Sisters Maria Celia, a novelist, and Sophia, a pianist, are living under house arrest in Cuba for having signed a seditious document. When the lieutenant assigned to their case begins to read Maria Celia’s novels, he becomes infatuated with her and the relationship between them touches off a series of events that will lose the sisters what little is left to them.
