Access Information

The Public Theater is committed to providing accessible programs and services for all patrons with disabilities.

Access for wheelchair users and individuals with limited mobility is available.
Assistive Listening Systems that transmit sound via headsets are available.
Special accessible performances will take place for all Shakespeare in the Park productions. Please visit the Shakespeare in the Park section of our website, dates and details will be posted when available.

Box Office Hours

Sunday and Monday: 1:00 - 6:00 PM
Tuesday through Saturday: 1:00 - 7:30 PM

*Please note, on days with a 1:00pm matinee the Box Office will open at 12:00 noon for pick up and purchases for that day’s matinee only.

To order tickets by phone, call 212-967-7555 from noon to 8 PM Monday through Sunday.

All tickets purchased online or by phone are subject to the following service fees: $5 per ticket for Public Theater tickets and $3 per ticket for Joe's Pub tickets, plus a $1.50 facility fee.

General Rush Standby Tickets

The number of tickets varies from performance to performance. Limit two tickets per person. Cash only.

Rush Tix are not available for the Under the Radar Festival. Please check back for information regarding Rush Tix during the spring season.

General Student Tickets

Subject to availability, $25 Student Tickets can be purchased in advance at the box office for every Public Theater performance on sale to the general public. Must have a valid student ID at the time of purchase. Limit one ticket per person. Cash only.

Full Price Waiting List Tickets

On the day of a sold out performance, we will take a waiting list for full price tickets in person at the Box Office window. The waiting list will be called no earlier than 1/2 hour before curtain. If you are called and not in the lobby, your name will be removed from the list.

While tickets occasionally become available in this manner, we are unable to make predictions or guarantees.

Please note that due to the nature of the ticketing system, we DO NOT have the ability to put aside free group tickets for Shakespeare in the Park.

Directions to The Public Theater

By Subway:

West Side: Take the R or N train to the 8th Street Station
East Side: Take the #6 train to Astor Place Station

By Bus:

Take the M2, M3, or M8 to 8 th Street and 4th Avenue
Take the M5 or M6 to 8 th Street and Broadway
Take the M15 to 2 nd Avenue and 9 th Street
Or take the M101 or M102 to 8 th Street and Cooper Union

By Car:

Exit the FDR Drive at Houston Street, drive west to Lafayette Street and turn right.
Or drive down Broadway to 4th Street, turn left on 4th Street and then again on Lafayette Street
