ptpp.jpgFifty-five years ago, The Public Theater was founded with the belief that Shakespeare belonged to the people. From that simple vision grew a vibrant theater where all of the world's voices, rhythms, and cultures converge. The Public is dedicated to embracing the complexities of contemporary society and nurturing both artists and audiences through productions that reflect the city it serves - diverse, brilliant, raw, and alive. Today, The Public Theater stays true to its founding principles while continuing to recreate itself and evolve within its mission to always serve as a place of inclusion and a forum for ideas.

Since the days of Joseph Papp, a distinct group of individuals have partnered with us to help produce The Public's diverse array of productions and programs. These contributions help keep ticket prices affordable downtown and free for Shakespeare in the Park. By becoming a Public Theater Partner, you will ensure that the values and artistry which have distinguished The Public Theater for half a century will flourish in the years to come. The Public Theater recognizes the contributions of its Partners by offering them a variety of benefits to enjoy through the year.
