After bringing his groundbreaking arrangements of the Bacharach catalogue to Joe’s Pub, Kyle Riabko returns for the debut of his Richard Rodgers Reimagined concert and album launch. Riabko was inspired to take on the Rodgers songbook after seeing a “fan letter” Rodgers had written to Bacharach.
Backed by his band, Riabko will bring his unique pop/rock sensibility to the classics Rodgers wrote with lyricists Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein II, performing them as they’ve never been heard before. Riabko turns his attention to such Rodgers compositions as “Oh, What A Beautiful Mornin’ ”; “The Lady Is A Tramp”; “My Favorite Things”; “Where Or When”; “Some Enchanted Evening”; “I Have Dreamed”; and “My Funny Valentine”, among others.
Riabko’s Richard Rodgers Reimagined album, now available on Ghostlight Records, was arranged, produced, and recorded by Riabko, who also handles all vocal and instrumental responsibilities on the album.
Riabko created and starred in the West End hit “Close To You: Bacharach Reimagined” and the earlier acclaimed Off Broadway version “What’s It All About? Bacharach Reimagined” which was named “One of the Year’s 10 Best” by The New York Times and received nominations for Drama Desk Awards, Outer Critics Circle Awards, and Lucille Lortel Awards for which Riabko was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical. London’s Daily Telegraph wrote, “Kyle Riabko is Outrageously Talented,” with The New York Times writing, “Riabko searches out the emotional layers of the songs with impressive precision," and Entertainment Weekly calling Riabko “a wonderfully appealing star.”
Riabko previously appeared on Broadway in both “Spring Awakening” and “Hair”, and in his teen years, recorded an album of original material for Sony/Aware and performed as an opening act for such artists as BB King, James Brown, John Mayer, Keb Mo, Jason Mraz, and Maroon 5, among others.
