House of SpeakEasy: Seriously Entertaining

Three words, two hundred and fifty years of argument. Kicking off our celebration of America's 250th anniversary, the theme “We the People," presented in collaboration with Library of America, reflects on this milestone, our communities, and our complicated country. The June 9th edition of Seriously Entertaining will feature James Basker, Terrance Hayes, Chyana Marie Sage, and Heidi Schreck, co-hosted by journalist John Avlon and President of Library of America Max Rudin. Think founding myths, landmark victories, and stories of what it means to keep fighting for the promise of those three words.

On October 6th, House of SpeakEasy and The New Yorker return to Joe’s Pub for another Seriously Entertaining collaboration, celebrating the release of The New Yorker: From Cover to Cover, the definitive presentation of the world’s most popular and evocative magazine covers. Co-hosted by House of SpeakEasy co-founder Amanda Foreman and Françoise Mouly, art editor of The New Yorker and author of The New Yorker: From Cover to Cover.
